Benchmarks
Find out whether your churn is normal for a company your size
A 4% monthly churn rate is a catastrophe for one business and unremarkable for another. Without a peer group, you cannot tell which one you are.
This page describes planned work, not shipped software. It is here so you can see where Bastle is heading before you commit — everything without this label is available today.
What is Benchmarks?
Roadmap
Not available yet, and here is why
Benchmarks depends on contributed data. A peer cohort assembled from too few companies produces a median that moves when one of them has a bad month, and a comparison built on that is worse than no comparison because it feels authoritative. Bastle has no customers yet, so there is no cohort. The screen is built; the dataset behind it has to be earned.
- Requires enough opted-in workspaces for a cohort to be statistically meaningful
- Contribution will be opt-in, anonymised and aggregated — never per-company figures
- Until then, no peer numbers are shown anywhere in the product

The design
What it will show when it ships
You will be placed in a cohort by revenue band and see your position on a quartile scale for each metric, with a plain-English reading rather than a number to decode. The screen exists in the demo today so you can judge the design — every figure in it is illustrative sample data, clearly labelled, and none of it comes from real companies.
- Cohort assigned by revenue band, with quartile position per metric
- Churn, growth, ARPU, LTV, quick ratio and failed-payment rates
- Plain-English verdicts rather than a table you have to interpret

Contribution
Opt in, or do not
Benchmarks will only ever use data from workspaces that have explicitly agreed to contribute, aggregated so that no individual company's figures can be recovered from the output. The toggle sits in the product, defaults are conservative, and turning it off will never remove access to anything you have already got.
- Explicit opt-in per workspace, reversible at any time
- Aggregated into cohort statistics; per-company values are never exposed
- No feature is gated behind agreeing to contribute
Why did MRR drop last month?
MRR fell $4,180 (−3.1%) in March. Almost all of it is contraction, not cancellations: 31 Scale customers downgraded to Growth after the annual renewal window opened.
Meanwhile
What you can use today instead
Your own history is the most honest benchmark available, and it ships now. Cohort retention tables show whether the customers you acquire this quarter are better than the ones you acquired last year, and segmentation shows which parts of the business are carrying the average. That comparison is available immediately and does not depend on anyone else's data.
- Cohort retention tables comparing every signup month against the others
- Segment comparison to find which part of the business sets the average
- Trendlines and goals to judge a metric against your own trajectory

Where this connects
Benchmarks reads the same normalised billing history as the rest of Bastle, so a change in one place shows up in the others without an export.
Keep going: see everything Bastle does, look up the maths behind any number in the metric glossary, or run a figure through the free calculators.
Practical questions are usually answered by the connector list, an honest comparison with the alternatives, or the same product framed for founders and for finance teams.
